Today’s Wordle Answer
October 31st #864
The October 31st Wordle answer is BLEAK.
The perfect word for a spooky Halloween night! For our starting Wordle word we used SCARE which provided both vowels, just in the wrong spots. Moving things around a bit we tried FAMED as our second attempt. This only gave us two more wrong places for our vowels and a few more incorrect consonants.
Moving everything around again we tried PETAL for our third guess, this locked in the ‘A’ and also added a new misplaced letter with ‘L’. Trying a few different positions for the ‘E’, we assumed it had to be right before the other vowel. Doing this helped us see the obvious ‘LEA’ in the center which quickly gave us the correct answer and our Wordle win-in-four with BLEAK.
Happy Halloween, boils and ghouls!

- Wordle is a web-based word-guessing game developed by Josh Wardle that took the world by storm in 2021. Players are given a five-letter word to guess and have six attempts to get the word correct. When they get a letter correct, it will mark itself as green if it’s in the correct position and yellow if it is the correct letter in the wrong position. A yellow letter also means that letter could appear more than once. Wordle was purchased by The New York Times Company in 2022 and added to their website and app, keeping the core game free to play as promised – with additional words and other bonuses available through subscription, and is available via browser, iOS, and Android.
