Vehicle combat is now a part of Cyberpunk 2077, and V will need the best cars in the game to stay alive on the streets of Night City. Update 2.0 and the Phantom Liberty expansion both add several new vehicles, some of which are specifically tuned for car combat. Players have many options, including juggernauts and sleek sports cars with hidden weapons.
Before the update, the game already featured many great vehicles, but some, such as Murk Man’s Rayfield Caliburn, aren’t well-suited for road warriors as they lack mounted weapons. When riding a vehicle that doesn’t have weapons, V will shoot at their enemies with whatever gun they have equipped, which isn’t always ideal. Having at least one dedicated car combat vehicle allows V to keep up with their enemies on the road.
5 Archer Quartz Sidewinder
How To Unlock:
Complete vehicle contracts from El Capitan and purchase for
90,000 Eurodollars
.
Many new vehicles introduced in Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty require V to complete vehicle contracts for Muamar “El Capitan” Reyes, Santo Domingo’s local fixer. The Archer Quartz Sidewinder is one of those cars, providing V with a substantial upgrade over the basic Archer Quartz and Archer Quartz Bandit. The basic versions of the car are all-purpose vehicles with surprisingly powerful engines. They are also relatively cheap, making them great early to mid-game vehicles.
The Sidewinder comes equipped with extra plating and a full armament of weapons, including mounted guns and a missile launcher. On top of that, it also boasts a 520-horsepower engine, easily outclassing the Bandit’s 364-horsepower engine. It’s essentially the fastest and most well-armed variant of an already fantastic car.
Unfortunately, the only downside is the price. V will have to complete several vehicle contracts before they can even get the chance to buy the car, which costs 90,000 Eurodollars. It’s possible to make money fast in Cyberpunk 2077, but it’s still a significant amount to spend.
4 Militech Hellhound
How To Unlock:
Complete vehicle contracts from El Capitan and purchase for 160,000 Eurodollars.
The Militech Hellhound trades speed for sheer survivability, with six wheels and heavy armor. Like Cyberpunk’s Mackinaw Demiurge monster truck, it works best as a battering ram. V can use its weight and bulk to push enemy vehicles off the road. It also has decent handling, so you don’t need to worry about getting stuck on Night City’s narrow streets due to the Hellhound’s size.
The Hellhound also comes equipped with a full arsenal of weapons, including mounted machine guns and a missile launcher. V can break through enemy defenses and launch devastating missile attacks while the plating shrugs off enemy fire.
The only real downside to the Hellhound is its low speed. Even with an 820-horsepower engine, it’s not the fastest car on the streets. However, it can still build up enough speed to keep up with smaller cars, so it’s still a solid and expensive choice.
3 Mizutani Shion Samum
How To Unlock:
Complete vehicle contracts from El Capitan, and purchase for 87,000 Eurodollars.
Most players will likely recognize the Mizutani Shion as one of Cyberpunk’s iconic sports cars. However, in an optional side quest conversation, V expresses their mixed feelings about the car. The Shion Samum is one of the coolest new vehicles added to Cyberpunk 2077, balancing the speed of a sports car with the fantastic handling of an off-road rally vehicle. Aside from speed, it also packs in armor plating, machine guns, and a missile launcher.
The Shion Samum is the perfect pick for anyone who wants to thrive in vehicle combat without trading too much style for substance. It’s faster than the Sidewinder and Hellhound and still carries a full arsenal of vehicle weapons. Unfortunately, like the Sidewinder, it’s not free and is locked behind El Capitan’s vehicle contracts. As such, V will have to spend some time carjacking and stealing cars to get the chance to buy this car.
Alternatively, players can also buy the Mizutani Shion Coyote, a slightly cheaper variant that only has machine guns.
2 Quadra Type-66 Hoon
How To Unlock:
Complete the
I’m in Love With My Car
side quest in Act Two.
Cyberpunk 2077’s Ken Block tribute car is one of the best cars in the game, regardless of whether players plan on engaging in vehicle combat. This variant of the Quadra Type-66 has an engine with a colossal 1,000 horsepower, armor plating, and mounted machine guns. The absence of a mounted missile launcher means it lacks the sheer hitting power of other combat-focused cars. However, it’s a decent tradeoff as you get excellent on and off-road handling, power, and speed.
It’s a fitting tribute to Ken Block, but perhaps the best thing about the Type 66 Hoon is that it’s free. V doesn’t have to engage with any vehicle contracts or spend money; instead, the car becomes available as part of the I’m in Love With My Car side quest. This quest first appears in Act Two, and players can journey up to an abandoned warehouse in Northside to grab one of the game’s best vehicles for free.
1 Herrera Outlaw Weiler
How To Unlock:
Complete
Baby Let Me Take You
for El Capitan.
The Herrera Outlaw Weiler perfectly fits the spy thriller atmosphere of the Phantom Liberty expansion. It’s a sleek, stylish sports car with mounted machine guns hidden in the front bumper, perfect for rinsing down enemies with bullets. As combat vehicles go, it’s on the opposite end of the scale to the Hellhound and trades all its armor for speed.
The Outlaw Weiler is a sports car that looks and acts the part. With less armor, you’ll need driving skills to survive vehicle combat, but the car also has excellent handling and cruises around street corners, giving you an advantage.
To get the car, you’ll have to complete some vehicle contracts for El Capitan to unlock the Baby Let Me Take You side quest. After completing that side quest, El Capitan will gift the Outlaw Weiler to V as a gift, completely free of charge. Luckily, it appears that you don’t need to do many vehicle contracts to unlock the side quest.
Missions involving vehicle combat are uncommon, but there are some, such as the street races in The Beast in Me side quest, where armed vehicles shine. Johnny Silverhand’s Porsche 911 might be stylish and fast, but after Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty, Cyberpunk 2077 players might want to drive around in something a bit tougher.
